Gawai Dayak Harvest Festival is celebrated by the Dayak tribes of Sarawak, Borneo every June 1st. The holiday celebrates the rice harvest. Although many Dayak no longer cultivate rice, the holiday is still their most festive. Processions take place with tribe members dressing in traditional clothes. Typical foods are eaten, like chicken rice cooked in bamboo. And copious amounts of rice wine are drunk!
