To those who know Petra Jordan from the movies, the site is merely Al Khazneh, or as it’s known in English “The Treasury”. Those who have visited Petra know the site is much more. It could take a person more than a day and several miles by foot to cover the sites associated with Petra.

Petra lies out in the desert of Jordan, nearby the town Wadi Musa. Once described as “a rose-red city half as old as time” it still impresses tourists to this day. The site is believed to be as old as 2,300 years.

When visiting, bring protection from the sun, lots of water, and be prepared to spend the whole day exploring by foot. Know that there are many other structures and facades cut from the rocks beside the most well-known, Al Khazneh.
