Location

Ogtong Cave Resort (Santa Fe Beach Club) is located on Bantayan Island (Cebu) in the Visayas, Philippines.

The best

Ogtong Cave has a splendid location. The resort sits on high ground looking out over a bright clear-blue ocean. Swimming (at high tide) is absolutely brilliant. The novelty of bathing in clean, clear, warm water doesn’t get old.

The property has a number of different rooms types ranging in price and serves good meals at reasonable prices.

Bantayan Island is mostly quiet and bucolic and offers a nice alternative to heavily-developed islands like Boracay.

Perhaps the most unique feature of Ogtong is its cave. A stairway nearby the swimming pool leads down into a cave wear you can swim in the cool spring water.

My favorite part about Ogtong besides swimming was just sitting about and enjoying the ocean view. The property is also immaculately landscaped. Sitting on my balcony with a cup of coffee in the morning or a cold beer in the evening was a great way to start and finish my day at Ogtong Cave.

There are several birds species in cages around the property that a fun to watch.

The worst

The staff is friendly and helpful but not extremely knowledgeable about general travel information in nearby parts of the Philippines.

Internet Connection

The Wi-Fi internet connection is better than most in the Philippines, but is comparatively slow on a global scale. It should be fast enough, however, to access  email and basic internet needs.

Despite warnings about safety in general in the Philippines, both Bantayan Island and Ogtong Cave, are quite safe. There is security personnel  at the main gate and around the property. The property is gated.

Editor’s pick

Ogtong Resort is a great place to unwind in the Philippines. The sea-views and swimming here are excellent. It has a quiet secluded feel, but you can be on the village beach talking with local kids and fisherman simply by walking 10 minutes, if that’s your style. An overall relaxing place to spend a few days in the Philippines.
