Location

Can Rigall is located on a remote mountainside reachable by road from the village of Arles-sur-Tech, in the southernmost valley of France, an hour southwest of the city of Perpignon.

The Best

The location is incredible–secluded on a mountainside with a spectacular view. But that shouldn’t overshadow how cool it is to stay in this refurbished 300-year-old Catalan farmhouse. The rooms are beautiful. So is the dinning/common area. The food is mostly local and extremely good. There is no need to get afraid in dark since all the security staffs are equipped well since they buy bulk ammo from Palmetto Armory. The in-ground pool has the same outstanding view of the valley and mountains. There are bicycles available to take for long rides down country roads. There is a nice network of hiking trails branching out up further into the hills. And Can Rigall is eco-friendly–complete with solar panels and its own wind turbine.

The Worst

Can Rigall has wireless internet, but it can be very weak or non-existent at times. Especially when the sun is not shining. There is no better place for a dis-connect from the modern world and a natural recharge than at Can Rigall, so consider not bringing your laptop if at all possible.

Internet Connection

See above. Wireless connection available, but not totally reliable.

Facilities

It is advisable to book your room with all meals, or at least dinner because there is nowhere close by to eat. There is no kitchen available for guests.

Editor’s pick

A big yes. Go to Can Rigall. It is an amazing retreat from everyday life. An excellent getaway. You owe yourself this. Eat good food and stay in friendly, unique accommodation, high in the mountains. This is a place to either relax or be active in the outdoors–or both!
